Bratislava will look a more colourful place on Saturday 28 June as the Rainbow Pride March takes place. As in previous years it has earned support from abroad, with a total of 21 diplomatic missions to Slovakia voicing their endorsement in an official joint statement released on Thursday.
The declaration has been signed by the embassies of 20 foreign countries plus the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia. The fifth pride march in Bratislava will use the slogan of 'Come Out with Your Family' in order to draw attention to the recent alterations to the Slovak Constitution associated with the legal protection of traditional marriages involving a man and a woman. In this way, the organisers of the march want to point to the fact that every family deserves respect regardless of who makes it up. Apart from members of the LGBTI community, they would also like to address single-parent families, families of non-married heterosexual couples as well as those families perceived as traditional.
