Foreigners' police to increase number of its workplaces

Departments of the foreigners' police will be extended by further workplaces due to the influx of temporary refuge applicants, Police Corps Presidium spokeswoman Denisa Bardyova told on Wednesday, adding they would welcome help with interpreting. New large-capacity registration centres will be added in Bratislava, Banska Bystrica, Nitra and Zilina. Departments of the foreigners' police all over Slovakia operate non-stop, without a break also during weekends. Large-capacity centres in Michalovce and Humenne, closer to the Ukrainian borders are available, however they don’t see such long waiting lines as those in Bratislava or Trnava.

The foreigners' police have processed more than 11,200 applications for temporary refuge in Slovakia since March 1, however, the number of people waiting for them is still increasing, said the police. As of Wednesday, March 9, refugees can register for temporary refuge also electronically using a QR code or through the Interior Ministry's website. After filling in the electronic form called "Registration of Temporary Refuge", they will visit the nearest department of the foreigners’ police. By filling in their data in advance in this way, they significantly speed up subsequent administrative proceedings. The form is available in the Ukrainian, Slovak and English languages.
