Prime Minister Robert Fico is to attend a session of the European Council in Brussels on Thursday and Friday to discuss economic growth, competitiveness and employment, as well as climate and energy issues. European leaders are to evaluate progress in a prepared new framework for climate and energy after 2020.
The European energy security strategy, which was adopted by the European Commission in March, will also be on the agenda. According to the strategy, the EU should adopt immediate measures at European and regional levels to ensure the security of energy supplies. Other topics of the EU Summit should include the current situation in Ukraine, the report on awarding Albania the status of a candidate country and Lithuania's accession to the Eurozone.
