Slovakia to host a major military exercise

A military exercise, called Ground Pepper 2014, with troops of V4 countries and the U.S.A. will take place in the Slovak training areas of Lest and in Kamenica nad Cirochou. The exercise is to practice for the collective defence of NATO.

It will take place in the second half of the year and will be the biggest event involving foreign troops in Slovakia this year. Altogether some 1,300 soldiers are to take part in the training. “Such an exercise is an excellent opportunity for soldiers to practice mutually harmonizing their capabilities. Armies must be able to work together because armed conflicts know no borders,” said Defence Minister Martin Glvač.
