Czech soldiers building camp in Liptov Region for 400 Ukrainian refugees

A hundred soldiers from the Czech Republic started on Tuesday to build a camp for 400 Ukrainian refugees in the Mokrad na Liptove (Zilina region) barracks, TASR was told by Czech commander Pavel Kubala on the same day. According to Kubala, the camp will contain 20 tents and social containers with toilets and showers, and the capability to operate completely independently in terms of energy.

Slovak Armed Forces spokesperson Stefan Zemanovic added that the Czech soldiers will build the camp on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 9).

The camp is slated to open for the first refugees on Saturday (March 12), primarily for mothers with children who have no other contact in Europe and nowhere to go. "They will stay there until permanent accommodation is found for them in Slovakia or, alternatively, in other countries in Europe," added the spokesperson.
