The planned US-Slovak Saber Strike 22 joint military exercise continues to take place at the Lest training centre in Central Slovakia. According to Slovak Armed Forces spokesman Stefan Zemanovic the exercise is not a response to the situation in Ukraine. The event forms part of a larger exercise involving 13 countries and 26 military training areas in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and the Baltic countries. Approximately 2,200 troops, including 1,500 US troops with 700 pieces of combat and security equipment, are taking part in the exercise at the moment. The US troops are expected to return to their bases in Germany when the exercise in Lest is completed.
