The epidemiological situation in Slovakia is developing favourably, with the numbers of positive cases, admissions to hospital and emergency medical calls going down, reported head of the Health Analysis Institute (IZA) Matej Mišík on Wednesday. "The number of positive cases is falling in all age categories, including in the high-risk 60+ group," he said. The number of people admitted to hospital has remained at roughly the same level as last week. "Concerning the seven-day average, 280 patients per day suffering from coronavirus were admitted to hospital, while ten patients per day were connected to artificial lung ventilation," Mišík added.
The stabilising situation is also evident in terms of the number of emergency medical calls, with a decrease being reported for the first time since the start of the omicron wave, said Misik. "The number of such calls to coronavirus-positive patients was lower than 1,800," he said. Lower or unchanged levels were seen in all regions except Trnava, which reported a slight increase in calls.
