An aircraft landed at Bratislava airport on Tuesday with fuel for the nuclear power plants in Mochovce and Jaslovske Bohunice, the Economy Ministry reported on the same day. Slovakia is making preparations for potential problems with shortages of Russian nuclear fuel with respect to EU sanctions imposed in reaction to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Even though Slovakia has shut down its airspace to Russian flights, an exemption that can be used for humanitarian aid or nuclear fuel purposes was employed in this case. The ministry also cooperated with Polish Minister for Energy. It assured the public that power producer Slovenske elektrarne has enough nuclear fuel at the moment.
