Liquefied natural gas heading for Slovakia

A tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) is already headed for Slovakia to fill up its reservoirs, Economy Minister Richard Sulík posted on a social network on Sunday. "Thanks to this supply, we will have a comfortable abundance of gas until the end of March or the end of the heating season and not only for households but also companies, without any interruptions," said Sulík. On Friday, the Slovak gas utility (SPP) announced that it had concluded a contract to procure LNG in the volume of 80 million cubic metres for the first time in an effort to diversify Slovakia's gas supplies. The tanker is supposed to arrive at a terminal on the Croatian island of Krk. The gas will be available for SPP as of March 1
