A prison sentence of ten years faces a 24-year-old Žilina man that in September of 2013 knew he was infected with HIV yet engaged in acts of prostitution regardless. TASR learned about the case from Regional Police spokesperson in Žilina Jana Balogová.
According to investigations, the man is accused of endangerment for engaging in sexual activity with clients while carrying the human immunodeficiency virus. “Despite the fact that from September 2013 he knew about his HIV infection, he operated at various locations in and around Žilina with as yet unidentified individuals. Žilina police have detained and placed the man in pre-trial detention”. If found guilty, the accused has been threatened with a prison sentence of between three to ten years. “We are appealing to anyone who may be able to provide any information on the case to make themselves known to the police in Žilina”, added the regional police spokesperson.
