Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad confirmed that the Slovak Armed Forces have increased their defence readiness level in response to the Ukrainian crisis, although only in preparation for a potential influx of migrants and not a potential military threat at the moment.
Speaking after an extraordinary session of the Slovak Security Council on Tuesday, Nad added that Slovakia's security forces also record a growing number of cyber and hybrid threats, and are actively dealing with them.
Slovakia and NATO are preparing for various scenarios, with several member states on the eastern flank growing highly concerned and asking for an enhanced NATO presence to bolster their defences.
