The provisional site for a memorial to murdered journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancee Martina Kusnirova that was set up on SNP Square in Bratislava was replaced on Monday by a permanent memorial, with the parents of the couple and Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) attending the unveiling ceremony.
The memorial was created in cooperation with the monastic society of the Merciful Brothers - the owner of the building on whose facade the memorial is mounted - and the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava, whose students and lecturers worked on the piece.
Guarantor of the project Marian Kralik explained that the aim wasn't to create a nice-looking and beautiful piece, but rather something that would represent to a certain extent the brutality of the murder itself.
