Slovakia supports the European effort to foment new ties with Africa at a closer level, Prime Minister Eduard Heger stated at the beginning of a two-day EU-African Union summit in Brussels on Thursday. Heger underlined that everything that happens on the African continent has a secondary impact on Europe, particularly in terms of migration and security. The aim is to help bolster the safety and security of Africans also with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic, as Africa has a vaccination rate of only 7 percent. The Slovak Prime Minister sees scope for more expanded economic cooperation between the EU and the African Union.
