Slovaks lost to Finland 0:2 in the semifinals of the Olympic ice-hockey tournament at the Beijing Olympics. Coach Craig Ramsay did not have much to blame his players for after the narrow loss. The players followed the game instructions to the letter, managed to defend the Finnish power play, but were unable to assert themselves against the organized defense of the opponent. The Finns managed to score at the end of the opening period and managed to keep a narrow lead in the following period. The second goal into an empty net 40 seconds before the end finally broke the Slovak effort to equalize. Slovakia will play for bronze on Saturday.
