The completion of the Open Season, a process to evaluate demand for natural gas supplies from Slovakia to Ukraine, has been postponed by a week. Upon request, the company Eustream, which will ship the gas through Slovakia via the connector in Vojany to Uzhhorod in Ukraine, extended the procedure.
The results are to be announced in early July. At the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Monday, Foreign and European Minister Miroslav Lajčák expressed his hopes that Ukraine and Russia will soon agree on the price of natural gas. Lajčák informed his colleagues that Slovakia has taken all the steps to ensure the reverse flow of gas to Ukraine. The agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council circled around the situation in Ukraine, which is further complicated by more than €2 million that Gazprom says is outstanding on their account with Ukraine. The Council agreed on a common security and defence policy aiming to assist Kiev with implementing a security sector reform.
