The Health Ministry is dealing with high energy prices – it is currently collecting data from individual hospitals and medical facilities and creating a database. Some medical facilities and hospitals are reporting increases in energy costs of 2 percent, some of 300 percent, noted Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky on Thursday. The ministry has not yet received any compensation budget. Rising energy prices are a serious problem for hospitals and may jeopardise health-care provision, the State Hospitals Association said last week. According to its members, the cost of energy for hospitals has increased by an average of about 170 percent when compared to last year. Finance Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO) has said that the state will earmark €12 million for hospitals to help them cope with rising prices.
