President: Foreign policy won't be successful without support at home

It would be a delusion to think that Slovak foreign policy can be successful if it's not anchored in clear support at home – that's what we're losing and must strive to restore again, President Zuzana Caputova declared in her speech at the Foreign and European Policy Evaluating Conference held at the foreign ministry on Tuesday.

On the same occasion, foreign minister Ivan Korcok stated that he considers the situation at home to be the biggest foreign policy challenge. According to him, the discussion on the Defence Cooperation Agreement with the USA, especially in Parliament, crossed all the red lines in terms of form and content. "In foreign policy, you must also make decisions for which no one applauds you, it's also the meaning of politics," stated Korcok.
