Slovakia to provide mine-sweepers to Ukraine

Slovakia will provide Ukraine with aid amounting to €1.7 million, Premier Eduard Heger announced during the Government session on Wednesday along with Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad and Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korcok.

Slovakia will send mine-sweeping systems and medial supplies to Ukraine. The Slovak Government is responding in this way to Ukraine's request for assistance.

Western countries have been warning for weeks that Russia could invade Ukraine, as it has massed more than 100,000 troops near its borders and in recent days has been conducting joint exercises with its army in southern Belarus. Russia rejects the claims that it is preparing an invasion and says it poses no threat to anyone.
