Eduard Kukan was the most prominent figure of Slovakia's diplomacy and always represented his country in a dignified manner, President Zuzana Caputova has posted on a social network.
According to her, he was a great diplomat who was not afraid of 'Meciarism' [the system in place under former premier Vladimir Meciar in 1990’s- ed.note]. Eduard Kukan was a high-quality diplomat who personified decency and versatility, Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) has posted on a social network. Heger noted that Kukan deserved credit for Slovakia's accession to the EU and NATO. The Government as well as the Parliament held a minute of silence to pay their respects to the late ex-Foreign Minister.

Former foreign affairs minister, MP and MEP Eduard Kukan passed away on Wednesday (February 9) at 82.
