There are almost 2,300 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, with 135 patients on lung ventilation. "The hospitals admit 250 patients daily on average," said Matej Mišík of the Heath Analysis Institute. .
According to him, there is a noteworthy increase in the number of younger patients, whereas it was mostly people aged above 60 during the Delta wave. "There has been a significant increase in the number of younger individuals aged below 20 and in the productive age of 20-40," he said. The vaccination rate in Slovakia is of 51% with the first dose. "Only 30% of the population has received a third dose," added Mišík.
According to Minister Lengvarský, after the omicron wave is over, life in Slovakia could get back to normal in late March. ”There could be a set of rules in late March that would allow people to live life as normal," said the minister.
