The Slovak Embassy in Ottawa has drawn attention to the declaration of a state of emergency in Canada’s capital in response to the ongoing demonstrations, calling on Slovaks and their relatives who are about to travel to the country to reconsider the need to do so. Those who are already in Ottawa should behave with increased caution. The embassy stressed that the state of emergency was declared in Ottawa due to serious danger and a threat to the safety and security of the inhabitants posed by the ongoing demonstrations. At the same time, the Foreign Affairs ministry warned that the protests could spread to other Canadian cities.
