Six new political parties want to be set up in Slovakia, according to a notice on the collection of signatures published on the Interior Ministry's website. The entities include 'Team Bratislava' and 'Team Nitra Region - Association of Nitra Region Candidates' which have the ambition to become regional parties. The other parties that want to emerge are: 'Movement for Healthy Slovakia', 'Roma Party', 'Restart of Slovakia' and 'Alternative for Slovakia'. The intention of 'Team Bratislava' as a local party was announced by Bratislava mayor Matus Vallo. His co-workers plan to run with 'Team Bratislava' in elections to the city, regional and local councils. Nitra mayor Marek Hattas stands behind 'Team Nitra Region'.
There are currently more than 160 political parties and movements in Slovakia, of which more than 90 are being eliminated. Founders of a party must collect at least 10,000 signatures, submit them to the Interior Ministry and apply for registration. If they meet all the legal conditions, the ministry will register the party.
