Slovakia's state budget posts surplus of €123 million in January

The state budget recorded a surplus of €123.4 million in January, which was 311.2 million better than in the same period of last year, according to a Finance Ministry report on the state budget for January 2022 released on Tuesday.

State budget incomes grew by 31.6 percent or €316.9 million, with expenditures posting an increase of 0.5 percent or €5.7 million y-o-y.

Tax revenues, which swell by €302.8 million, contributed the most to the increase in the budget revenue. "Positive developments were recorded for value added tax of €143.2 million, for corporate income tax of €54.5 million, for taxes on the use of goods and from permits to perform activities of €31.6 million," said the Finance Ministry. Excise taxes contributed to the year-on-year increase with an amount of €29.4 million and personal income taxes with €19.9 million. Other taxes increased by a total of €24.2 million.
