Prime Minister Eduard Heger is happy with the improved ranking of Slovakia on the Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and perceives it as a convergence of several factors, Heger's spokesperson Lubica Janikova told TASR on Wednesday.
Heger perceives the improved ranking of Slovakia as an encouragement for the "anti-corruption forces" to persevere in their efforts.
Slovakia improved its ranking in the perception of corruption, ending up 56th out of 180 countries, which amounts to a year-on-year leap up by four places. Slovakia also recorded a higher score this year, increasing from 49 to 52 points out of 100. However, the country still lags significantly behind the EU average.
