Car-aircraft hybrid from Slovakia receives Certificate of Airworthiness

The dual-mode car-aircraft hybrid vehicle called AirCar, invented by a Slovak company, has been issued the official Certificate of Airworthiness by the Slovak Transport Authority, following its successful completion of 70 hours of rigorous flight testing compatible with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards, with over 200 take-offs and landings.

The certificate allows a pilot of this car-aircraft hybrid to ask air traffic control for permission to fly at any time, just like any other aircraft.

“AirCar certification opens the door to mass production of very efficient flying cars. It is official and the final confirmation of our ability to change mid-distance travel forever,” said Professor Stefan Klein, the AirCar’s inventor, leader of the development team and test pilot.

Consumption per hour of flight is about 18 litres of petrol. The price of the AirCar could range between half a million and 750,000€.
