Survey: almost 60 % of pharmacists would accept vaccination in pharmacies

Almost 60% of pharmacists and 83 % of students of pharmacy agree with the idea of vaccination in pharmacies. This stems from a survey by the Slovak Chamber of Pharmacies in cooperation with the Slovak Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology. The recommended vaccinations include those against flu, COVID-19, pneumococci, hepatitis, tick encephalitis and the human papilloma-virus. "Vaccination against flu in pharmacies is already a normal part of the vaccination strategy in many other countries," specified the Chamber. This practice is highly supported by Slovak professionals, with 75% percent of pharmacists and 94 percent of students of pharmacy expressing support for the possibility of vaccination against flu of healthy adults in pharmacies. Moreover, 65 % of pharmacists and 94 % of students support vaccination against COVID-19 in pharmacies. A majority of pharmacists, however, considered inadequate personnel and their existing workload as the greatest obstacles to vaccination against flu in pharmacies. A total of 457 pharmacists from the whole of Slovakia participated in the survey.
