Towns and villages call to replace single electoral constituency with several

The Towns and Villages Association has sent an open letter to Prime Minister Eduard Heger in which it claimed that Slovakia has a problem with insufficient representation of individual regions in Parliament, calling for the single electoral constituency in Slovakia to replaced with several in general elections. “We are asking for information on what changes the governing coalition is planning in relation to replacing the one constituency in general elections with another, better solution. We do not think that we have time for philosophising today. We need actions," Association stated in the letter. The Interior Ministry told the TASR news agency in December 2021 that a working group had been set up to deal with the issue of replacing the one-constituency system. The group is expected to draw up recommendations for alternatives as well as specific amendments to the Electoral Act.
