Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollar (We Are Family) has attended the state funeral of European Parliament President David Sassoli. It took place in the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and of the Martyrs in Rome on Friday. The funeral was also attended by President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. During a foreign working visit, Kollar also took part in bilateral talks with Austrian Parliamentary chair Wolfgang Sobotka. David Sassoli died at the age of 65 in Italy on Tuesday (January 11). The European Parliament is slated to elect its new president this month.
