Eviro-Minister Budaj meets UK ambassador and climate activists

On Monday, Environment Minister Ján Budaj discussed outcomes of the UN conference on climate change (COP26), held in Glasgow, Scotland last year, with British Ambassador to Slovakia Nigel Baker and representatives of an initiative called Climate Needs You. The minister pointed out that conferences like COP26 are limited in terms of their outcomes. What they can achieve is limited. It depends on national governments and the private sector, which at the end of the day must adopt measures to curb emissions. Budaj also voiced his support for the initiative’s online petition on the issue of climate crisis, which is already signed by more than 127,000 people. He also welcomes another petition, aimed at declaring a state of climate emergency in Slovakia and the drafting of a plan to achieve climate neutrality in Slovakia by 2050.
