The first case of the omicron variant of coronavirus has been confirmed in the Louis Pasteur University Hospital in Kosice (UNLP), hospital spokeswoman Monika Kriskova told TASR on Tuesday.
"The patient is being treated at home, as her clinical condition does not necessitate hospitalisation," said UNLP infectology and travel medicine clinic head physician Martin Novotny. The woman arrived from the USA.
The hospital identified the case based on PCR detection of several mutations typical of the coronavirus omicron variant.
