Police refuse to concern themselves with theft from Robert Fico's office

The police have refused to process a criminal complaint concerning theft from the office of Smer-SD head Robert Fico, TASR learnt on Monday from Bratislava police spokesman Michal Szeiff. Several media reported in October 2021, when surveillance footage in a hunting cabin belonging to Fico was leaked, that the Smer chief mentioned on the videos that somebody had stolen €50,000 in cash and several gold coins from his office in Smer-SD headquarters. Fico later confirmed this publicly, explaining that he hadn’t reported the theft due to his previous experience with the police in a case of burglary. Slovak MEP Lucia Duris Nicholsonova and Freedom and Solidarity MP Ondrej Dostal reported in the autumn that they were filing a motion concerning the theft from Fico’s office with the police.
