Dakar 2022: Svitko improves in spite of serious fall

On Sunday, Slovak motorcyclist Štefan Svitko of the Slovnaft Rally Team placed 11^th in the stage 1 of the 2022 Dakar Rally. He finished 17 minutes and 41 seconds behind the first Australian Daniel Sanders. “The start was good, however, I had a huge fall 80 kilometres before the end. At first I thought I am done in Dakar,” said Svitko. This stage helped the Slovak to improve, moving from the 33^rd to the 12^th spot after the Saturday’s prologue. He is 28 minutes and 36 seconds behind the first Sanders.
