The proportion of foreigners among tourists is growing again

The proportion of foreigners staying in accommodation facilities in Slovakia is growing, with the number in October the highest since March of last year, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. In October, almost 285,000 people visited tourist accommodation facilities in Slovakia. The figure more than doubled year on year, but it stood at only half the number recorded in October 2019. Accommodation services were used by 82,000 foreign visitors. The proportion of guests from abroad reached almost 29 percent, the highest level for the past 19 months, with their number up by four times when compared to the previous October. Before the pandemic, foreigners made up 36 percent of all visitors.
