Interim police Chief Stefan Hamran is opposed to any politicisation of the media-covered actions taken recently by the police in connection with the violation of pandemic measures. He also denies that the police have succumbed to any potential pressure. Hamran pointed, for example, to the action taken by the police against two members of protesting ambulance crews, that taken against opposition Smer-SD leader Robert Fico, and the closure of a cafe in Bratislava owned by journalist Stefan Hrib. He stressed that a state of emergency is in place and that it cannot be violated, nor can attempts to incite violations be tolerated. He declared that the police will take similar action in the future regardless of the political membership of the people engaged in such activities.
