The first visit of the new Slovak president goes to Hungary

President-elect Andrej Kiska will attend commemorative celebrations on June 16 to mark the 25th anniversary of events that led to democratic changes in Hungary at the invitation of Hungarian President Janos Ader.

The meeting is one in a series of similar events planned by the Visegrad Four partners (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) and Germany for this year, with the aim of underlining the importance and links between events that transpired shortly after each other in individual countries of Central Europe and led to the beginning of democratisation processes in the region. In Budapest, the V4 and German presidents will visit the graves of political victims of the 1956 revolution and the House of Terror museum, which contains exhibits commemorating the victims of totalitarian regimes in the 20th century.
