Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger met with exiled Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya before the EU-Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels on Wednesday. At the meeting, he expressed his support following Tuesday’s verdict by a Belarusian court against her husband and praising Tsikhanouskaya’s efforts to democratise her homeland. Even though Belarus was not directly represented at the EU-Eastern Partnership summit, the exiled leader of the Belarusian opposition, however, came to Brussels on this occasion. Slovak PM Heger stated that Tsikhanouskaya enjoys the support of the democratic world as a political leader who is paving the way for free elections in Belarus.
