Employment in October rose notably in monthly terms only in the IT sector, namely by 8.3%, while another, only 0.1-percent, increase was recorded in selected market services, the Statistics Office reported. Employment in other monitored sectors dropped in October, most significantly in pubs and restaurants (5.8%), retail (3%), wholesale (2%); the repair and maintenance of cars (1.7%). The remaining sectors recorded mild drops in employment under 1%.
As for the January-October period in 2021, employment rose in yearly terms in the IT sector - by 4.2%; and in selected market services - 0.4%. Drops were recorded in other monitored sectors, most notably in accommodation services - 11.3%; in restaurants and pubs - 7.6%; in construction - 4.4%; and in wholesale - 4.3%.
