Constitutional court: Parts of Public Health Protection act were unconstitutional

The Constitutional Court on Wednesday ruled that some parts of the Public Health Protection Act are unconstitutional. In part, it complied with the proposal of Ombudswoman Maria Patakyova, who challenged several provisions concerning, in particular, the extent to which public health authorities are entitled to order measures in connection with isolation and quarantine. The Public Health Office acknowledged the decision of the Constitutional Court and promised to make more extensive comments after it has studied the decision in greater detail. Justice Minister Maria Kolikova said in response that the annulling of the provisions should not have an impact on current legislation. A similar stance was also echoed by Interior Minister Roman Mikulec.
