Health Minister suggests lockdown until December 16

Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky (an OLaNO nominee) has suggested that the Government should extend the lockdown that is currently in place until December 16. After this date, all shops could be open for the vaccinated and those who’ve recovered from coronavirus. Essential shops would continue to be open for everyone. Further easing of measures should follow after December 25.

In addition, the minister was set to propose that relevant authorities should check more often whether employees are working from home and that only vaccinated individuals, those who’ve been tested for COVID-19 and those who’ve recovered from the disease should be allowed on long-distance bus and train lines as of December 16.

As for the period starting on December 17 and ending on December 24, Lengvarsky is set to propose that shops with essential goods should be allowed to stay open only until 10 p.m. and that they should limit the number of customers on their premises to one individual per 25 square metres. Meanwhile, all stores, including those in shopping malls, should be allowed to open for vaccinated and tested individuals as of December 17 until December 24, under the condition that they will limit the number of customers inside to one person per 15 square metres. The limit should be increased to 25 square metres in the case of hairdressers, for instance.

Hotels should be allowed to open for vaccinated and tested individuals as of December 25 until January 9, under the condition they will operate at 75 percent capacity.
At the same time, only essential shops should be allowed to open after December 24.
