Prime Minister entertains the idea of mandatory vaccinations of seniors

“Mandatory vaccinations of people over the age of 60 against COVID-19 are the way out of the pandemic,” reads the Sunday post of Prime Minister Eduard Heger on his social network. According to Heger, the way out of the pandemic is not a matter of political opinion, but of facts and experience. At the same time, he thinks that any reforms must have the full support of the coalition. A few days prior to PM's statement, the “Science Helps” initiative recommended that the Slovak Government should introduce mandatory vaccination for selected groups of the population. Speaking on behalf of the initiative, mathematician Richard Kollar pointed out that only half of adults in Slovakia are vaccinated, which is too little to deal effectively with the novel coronavirus pandemic.
