President lights up the Christmas tree in front of the Presidential Palace

President Zuzana Čaputová lit the Christmas tree in front of the Presidential Palace in Bratislava on Monday (December 6), together with a family of doctors. Juraj Smaha, the head of the COVID department at the Ružinov hospital in Bratislava, and doctor Sabina Smahova from the National Institute of Children's Diseases and the Children's Haematology and Oncology Clinic of the Medical Faculty of Comenius University lit up the tree together with the president. "Due to the current pandemic situation, it is mainly doctors and medical staff who are experiencing an enormous strain in their work, and the president would like to, at least symbolically, bring the Christmas atmosphere to health professionals and their families," said Lukas Laczko from the President Office's communication department.
