“Schools in Slovakia should switch to remote learning”, stressed Slovakia's Chief Hygienist Jan Mikas on Wednesday, describing it as a very important tool in a pandemic situation in which health care is collapsing and there is a high incidence rate among children and young people. According to Mikas, epidemiologists and other experts agree on this. However, at the same time the chief hygienist understands the Education Minister's efforts to maintain teaching in classrooms as long as possible, but although children are not occupying COVID-19 beds in hospitals directly, they are playing an important role in the mechanism of COVID-19 transmission to other household members, who can then pass the disease on.
