Coalition on hard lockdown

Coalition on hard lockdown

The coalition council addressed the possibility of imposing a three-week hard lockdown on the country at a session on Monday. As the leaders of the 4 parties informed, they came to an agreement, the details of which should be clear after the Government session on Wednesday. We Are Family stated in this regard that it would opt for an immediate two- or three-week hard lockdown so that restrictions could be eased before the Christmas season. For the People vice-chair Juraj Seliga noted that all options are currently on the table, adding that if no drastic measures are taken, hospitals will ultimately collapse. As for Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), party spokesman Ondrej Sprlak reported that the SaS would first present its stance to its coalition partners. Head of the parliamentary health committee Jana Bitto Ciganikova (SaS) has already come out against the idea, however, calling it a short-term solution that would subsequently cause a deterioration in the situation. She would prefer a lockdown for the unvaccinated only to a general one. If the Government wants to tighten measures, it must immediately help the people and the economy, head of the extra-parliamentary opposition Voice-SD party Peter Pellegrini stated at a press conference on Monday. According to him, the Government will probably introduce a lockdown.
