President Ivan Gašparovič received Prime Minister Robert Fico and selected government members to mark the end of his tenure as President Wednesday morning in Bratislava. Fico believes that even after the departure of President Gašparovič, personal friendships between the two will remain.
He expressed the belief that Gašparovič offered a lot of experience to the Slovak Republic during his tenure. Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška was also in attendance to thank the outgoing head of state for 10 years at the highest post. The President was also pleased that during both governments with Robert Fico as Prime Minister, they cooperated in times of difficult economic and social situations. “Even though we were not always in agreement, we knew to find a compromise”, said Gašparovič.
