It's good news both for Slovakia and the Netherlands that they have each managed to exit the excessive deficit procedure, President of the Eurogroup and Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem said in Bratislava on Tuesday.
“Slovakia and the Netherlands have recorded a milestone, because they've managed to get out of the excessive deficit procedure. This reflects the successful efforts of Slovakia. Slovakia's economic growth is one of the highest among the countries in the eurozone, and this is very important”, said Dijsselbloem. During his visit to Bratislava on Tuesday, Dijsselbloem met Slovak Finance Minister Peter Kažimír. “I've had the opportunity to present the results for 2013, but also on the situation in regard to economic development and to the labour market. We've also shared information related to the preparation of macroeconomic forecasts”, said Kažimír. During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the situation in the European Union. According to Dijsselbloem, the creation of a banking union will be important for EU-member states in the next few months. “The Slovak banking sector is in good shape. I look forward to working together within the Eurogroup”, added Dijsselbloem.
