Two police officers sustained injuries in an explosion after people protesting in Bratislava in front of Government Office used pyrotechnics, on Wednesday. The injuries required medical attention, said Bratislava Regional Police spokesperson Michal Szeiff. Moreover, police held eleven protests at various locations in the Slovak capital.
At a time when hospital capacities in Slovakia are almost full and people have limited access to health care due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of people gathered in Bratislava calling for early elections. As the SME daily wrote, the protest was initiated by the largest opposition SMER-SD party together with the far right People’s Party Our Slovakia and the Republic party.
