“Slovakia is tied to Germany by strong economic ties”, declared Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) during a video conference with representatives of German businesses active in Slovakia on Monday. The discussion also touched on measures the Government plans to embrace to cut red tape and simplify the process of running a business in Slovakia. Heger signalled Slovakia's aspirations to invest in the education system, and to bring it more in line with actual practice and the expectations of the business sector. The German employers pointed to problems with acquiring new qualified labour on the Slovak market, to which Heger replied that the Government is already addressing the issue. Every second company with German capital in Slovakia thinks the current economic situation in the country is good. According to the autumn survey of the Slovak-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Slowakei), a further 45 per cent described it as satisfactory and only five per cent as poor.
