"The third pandemic wave isn't worse than the second one for now," noted the Health Minister Vladimír Lengvarský on Sunday evening on the news television TA3's discussion programme. He pointed out the importance of monitoring the situation in hospitals and not the number of infected. He said his ministry dealt with the transfer of patients from overburdened localities to other ones during the weekend as well. He sees the problem in the low vaccination rate in the country and in the overloaded health-care system. Moreover, the minister did not rule out that local lockdowns might be adopted in the upcoming period. "We have the agreement with the prime minister that if stricter measures are needed, they will be taken," said Lengvarsky. The consilium of experts has been meeting over the weekend and tightened measures should be approved by the Cabinet on Tuesday (Nov 16). According to the minister, checks will be more frequent and stricter and will also involve fines. As of Monday (Nov 15), there are 52 'black' districts (a third-degree warning) in the COVID-19 automaton, while 19 districts are considered 'dark red' (a second-degree warning) and eight are being treated as 'red' (a first-degree warning).
