Hospital Reform passed to Second Reading in Parliament

Parliament on Thursday passed the planned reform of the hospital network into its second reading, with the bill obtaining support from 76 of the 145 MPs present. Meanwhile, the legislation was opposed by 68 MPs. No one abstained from voting officially, but one MP did not take part in the vote. Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO), Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky (an OLaNO nominee) as well as several Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and For the People representatives have thanked MPs for passing the planned reform of the hospital network to its second reading in Parliament on Thursday. As for Lengvarsky, the minister promised that he would continue to visit concerned districts to discuss the reform with representatives of local hospitals. Meanwhile, the head of the extra-parliamentary Voice-SD party Peter Pellegrini noted in this regard that Slovakia does need a reform of its health-care system, but he added that the bill that was passed to its second reading in Parliament on Thursday can limit the accessibility of health care in a number of districts across the country.
