A beech named the Tatra umbrella from Stary Smokovec, northern Slovakia, was appointed the most beautiful Slovak tree for the year 2021. The annual public vote ranked it first ahead of the 170 year old Indian bean tree from Hnusta, central Slovakia, and the 300 year old oak from Giraltovce, eastern Slovakia. The winner of the popular survey will represent Slovakia in the European tree beauty contest.
